It's been weird, and a little frightening, to get messages from friends and family saying "goodbye--we'll miss you!" because I deleted my data from Facebook. Just weird. Listen, I'm not going anywhere--I'm right here, and on Twitter, and on a zillion other online services. I didn't ditch Facebook because I have any illusions about privacy. I ditched them because they didn't handle their recent privacy changes in an ethical manner, and showed an utter contempt for users. If a retail store did that, you wouldn't shop there any more. But the intractable hold that Facebook has over many of us is...a little disturbing. Don't say goodbye. I'm here everyday.
